GAME ACADEMY
Vallekilde Game Academy (VGA) is an intense education into all aspects of modern game- and play-design. The main objective of VGA is to offer the students an inspirational peek into a future of game design, but most importantly transform the students from gamers into makers – move their mindset from being passive consumers into being active creators.
COURSE
During the six months stay the students learn about all the different disciplines which goes into crafting a modern game. They work on weekly topics like board games, programming, visual design, interactive storytelling, project-management, behavioral psychology, social gaming mechanics, level- and sound- design and persuasive games.
The end goals for the students are to gain deeper knowledge and understanding about the fundamental behavioral psychology behind gaming and generally gain an all-round perspective on the international business and art of creating games.
The teachers at VGA are all either academics or experienced game designers, so the students will meet some of the most influential people in the Danish and worldwide game industry. They will also attend and host game jams like Exile Game Jam (www.exilejam. dk) and Danish industry-events like SpilBar and w00t Copenhagen Play Festival (www.w00t.dk)..
